Getting God’s Love Inside Of Us
“We love because He first loved us” 1 John 4:19
Love is something we all relate to. Whether it’s falling in love or the love that comes in friendship, love is something that we experience in our lives. Even though we all have different love stories, we share one reality. We are all loved by God unconditionally.
He loves those who know Him and those who don’t. He adores each of those whom He has created. We know this because of the gift of His Son Jesus. He was given to save us so we may know the love that has been poured out. This is a love that is perfect, one that will never fail. There is nothing we can do that will cause the Lord to stop loving us.
1 Corinthians 13, known as the love chapter, gives us a picture of what love is and what it looks like. Before I really understood the reality of God’s love, I saw this scripture as a list of instructions to follow. When I really understood and had a love encounter with the Lord I realized that this list was more of a picture of Jesus and how He loves. When it says “Love is patient…love is kind…love keeps no record of wrong…love endures every circumstance,” this is God and this is how He loves us. I still think that this portion of truth directly applies to our lives and how we should love, but we need to understand that God loves like this.
I believe when we see and experience the love of the Lord we will operate out of that love. As God pursues us, our hearts change and align themselves with His heart. We are transformed and then, love like the Father loves.
My prayer for all of us is that we would know the love of God in a significant way. I pray His love would get deep inside of us and as we fall more in love with Him, we would fall more in love with His people. It is then, the one, true, unfailing love is released into this hurting world.
